Nov 23, 2021Service resumption into / out of lower mainland BCEffective Tuesday November 23, 2021

Although extreme weather conditions, challenging roads, and highways continue to impact Ground service to the lower mainland of British Columbia from the rest of Canada, progress has been made by local crews to restore limited movements into and out of BC.
    -  As a result of the progress made and the need to restore the movement of goods destined to and from the Lower Mainland of British Columbia and the rest of Canada, we are resuming service as follows:
    -  For shippers outside of British Columbia, Ground service will resume effective immediately to all points in BC except where Local evacuation orders are still in place.
For shippers within British Columbia, service to the rest of Canada by Ground will resume Wednesday November 24, 2021

Extended Area Surcharges to all impacted areas have been removed / restored to their original levels effective November 23, 2021.

Freight currently in our network and any new shipments destined to the affected areas within BC is expected to encounter continuing delays as we work to clear the backlog. Nov 26, 2021Fuel Surcharge Levy British ColumbiaEffective Wednesday, December 1st, 2021

Due to ongoing infrastructure issues within British Columbia (BC), significant challenges remain in transporting freight to, from and within BC. As a result of these challenges, we are experiencing unforeseen increases in cost to serve in these areas.

To ensure we continue to meet the ongoing shipping needs of our customers, effective Dec. 1st, 2021, a fuel surcharge levy of 4% will be implemented for all Ground shipments to, from and within BC. All postal codes that commence with the letter 'V' will receive the increased Fuel Surcharge until further notice.

As an example, if the current fuel surcharge (FSC) is 15%, 4% will be added to the then current Fuel Surcharge for shipments to, from and within BC, resulting in a 19% Fuel Surcharge. All other shipments would continue to be assessed a 15% Fuel Surcharge. See below for the current FSC schedule. For the complete FSC guide page.

Nov 29, 2021Ground Service From the Lower Mainland of British Columbia and Vancouver Island - Temporarily SuspendedDue to the heavy rainfall forecast and risk of flooding and debris flow causing road closures throughout British Columbia (BC), Ground Service from the Lower Mainland of BC and Vancouver Island to the rest of Canada is temporarily suspended, effective immediately.

Shipments originating from and destined to the Lower Mainland of BC and Vancouver Island as well as shipments originating from the rest of Canada destined to BC are still being accepted. Please continue to monitor our service updates page for any changes.

Nov 30, 2021Severe weather conditions impacting service to NewfoundlandSevere weather that has impacted ferry service and caused damage to infrastructure has resulted in limited access to/from ports and other areas within Newfoundland (NF). As a result, we are experiencing delays of up to 7+ days to various destinations throughout NF.

Shipments destined to areas of NF that are inaccessible will be held at a Canpar Express terminal to be processed once access to the impacted area allows.

    Aug 03, 2023Carbon SurchargeAs part of their Climate Change Plan, the federal government implemented a coordinated nation-wide carbon price beginning at $20 per tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions (tCO2e) in 2019. As of April 1, 2023, this cost has increased by 225% to $65 per tonne. All provinces and territories must maintain a carbon price of at least $65 per tCO2e in 2023.

    This increase affects multiple aspects of the economy and impacts costs across our entire network ranging from transportation costs to energy costs for heating, to equipment purchases and maintenance.

    As a result of this change, we have incurred an increase in our overall costs. As such, it is necessary for us to apply a Carbon Surcharge of 2.5% effective September 1st, 2023, for all shipments handled across our network.
